Annnd . . . what do I think so far?I loved this story and both main characters. I love the writing and the voice. The male love interest has a unique personality that fit with his particular need for self-protection. I couldn't put this down. Here's the blurb so you can see if it sounds like a good fit for you too. Fiddlesticks, thought Lady Mary Wagnall, finding a husband couldn’t be that difficult. She knew she was no great beauty, and at the ancient age of 28 she was prepared to settle for an older gentleman, one happy to settle down and start a family of his own. Yet, one glimpse of the incomparably handsome Marquess of Rothayne put every practical plan to rout. Mary would be less than a woman if her heart remained unaffected by such a man, but more the fool for giving in to such folly!
Nothing intrigued the Marquess of Rothayne more than a challenge, particularly where women were concerned. And Lady Mary Wagnall, with her quick-witted banter and forthright nature would certainly provide enough sport to alleviate his increasing sense of ennui. But as he helped to plot her course to matrimony, he began to wonder if it was to be his sworn bachelorhood which would succumb to her charming nature and lively smile!
One day you'll need this!
Cuppa Cocoa for 1
In a microwave safe 2-cup measuring cup,
add 1 cup half-and-half (or milk, but there is a difference!)
2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons milk chocoate chips
Microwave on high for about 2 minutes until hot but not boiling
Stir to mix in the melted chocolate
Add a drop of a flavor--this one has one drop of orange oil, or coconut oil (the flavoring not the shortning substitute) or peppermint oil is nice too.
What am I reading now? Lord Basingstoke's Downfall (G. G. Vandagriff)
Annnd . . . what do I think so far? I really enjoy this author's writing style. This is the third in this series (but she has many more books than this series) and it is as enjoyable as the first two.
When Lord Basingstoke reluctantly attends the engagement ball of his former commanding officer, he is definitely not looking for romance. His childhood sweetheart broke his heart for good when she married another while he was serving on the Peninsula, and now that he is home he must see to putting a dilapidated estate in order. The animated Lady Leticia Lindsay has just had her heart bruised by a careless suitor and is looking forward to leaving London for her idyllic home in Lincolnshire. When Basingstoke and Lady Leticia meet, they have an odd conversation that leads to a surprising correspondence. Is it possible for two jaded people to fall in love through letters? And will such a tenuous relationship prevail when their previous loves reenter their lives? Winter's Coming
What am I reading now?Diamond Rings are Deadly Things(Rachelle J. Christensen)
Annnd . . . what do I think so far? So it turns out that weddings and murder have a lot in common. This is a cozy murder mystery set against the backdrop of a wedding planner/dress designer/craft blog. So much craziness to enjoy in this book. And look at that cover--love it!
Here's what it's about: Adrielle Pyper knows how to plan a wedding, and she's especially good at pleasing bridezillas. But when her biggest client and best friend is murdered just three days before the wedding, Adri's world falls apart. Adri must race to uncover the secret hidden within the yards of satin and lace before she becomes the next victim.
