Writer's Block

What am I reading now?  Under a Georgia Moon (Cindy Roland Anderson)

Annnd what do I think so far?  Whenever I'm discouraged about finding a fun sweet romance, I can always count on a book by this author to have just what I'm looking for. Enjoy this book--heck, go all out and enjoy 2 or 3 from Anderson! (p.s. I love the shoes she puts on all her covers!)

Addie Heywood thought she was doing okay after her fiancĂ© dumped her just weeks before their wedding, claiming he’d found someone else more compatible with his health food tastes. But when he marries the other woman three months later, Addie needs to get away. Leaving her home in Idaho, she escapes to Mitchel Creek, Georgia to visit her Aunt Janie. She just wants to spend the next two weeks enjoying her aunt’s southern cooking, not dodging the guys her aunt is determined to set her up with.

Chase Nichols isn’t looking for love. His dream is to trade his computer mouse for his guitar and make it big in the country music world. If he can land a job in Nashville, he might have a shot at getting discovered. His plans get derailed when he does his neighbor a favor and picks up her niece, Addie, at the airport. Things get even more complicated when his ex-girlfriend comes back into the picture. That’s when he hatches a new plan. Since Addie wants to avoid her aunt’s matchmaking schemes, and he wants to avoid his ex-girlfriend, they’ll fool the world by pretending to date. What neither of them counts on is actually falling in love.

Writer's Block
Every time Deanna and I finish a book, it's like our brains take a vacation. We can't write. It's really just best for us to take time off. Relax. Do something different. Then later, start again.

We've been off writing for the last couple of weeks, but last night we were able to get some fun ideas down for a new story.

Lime Soup

What am I reading now?  Legacy (Molly Cochran)

Annnd . . . what do I think so far?  I jsut finished this story and am starting the second in the series, Poison. The good thing about coming late to this series is that they're all out! The last one is called Seduction.

Magic doesn't exist. Witches aren't real. But Katy can't believe this anymore because she knows she's a witch and so is everyone else in the small town where she goes to school.

Stuck at a boarding school where her fellow students seem to despise her, Katy soon discovers that Whitfield is the place where her mother committed suicide under mysterious circumstances when Katy was just a small child. With dark forces converging on Whitfield, it's up to Katy to unravel her family's many secrets to save the boy she loves and the town itself from destruction.

Lime Soup
4 c chicken broth
2 c beef broth
2 bay leaves

1/2 c onion
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 c diced green chile

2 chicken breasts, cubed
1/4 teaspoon chile flakes
salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 c chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 c lime juice

3 ripe avocados, diced
3 roma tomatoes, diced
1 Tablespoons lime juice

Sour cream

Simmer first 3 ingredients while sweating onion, green chile and garlic in a small amount of oil. Add chicken and seasonings then fry for 5 minutes. Add all ingredients to the broth mixture and bring to a boil.

Chop the tomatoes and dice the avocado. Mix together with 1 Tablespoon of lime juice. Set aside.

To serve, remove bay leaves, ladle soup into bowls, top with 2 heaping tablespoons of avocado mixture and a dollop of sour cream. I like to serve the soup with warm, buttered four tortillas.

*Trying to get rid of some left over turkey or chicken? I've used those in this recipe instead and it's still great.
With sour cream,
fresh avocado and tomato chunks,
this soup is muy delish.

Romance is in the Air

What am I reading now? Ruined by a Rake (Erin Knightley)

Annnd. . . what do I think so far? LOVE IT! This is fast becoming a go-to author for me. The romances are swoon-worthy. Although the covers look a little racy, the romances are clean. The situations for each couple are twisty and fun. And BONUS--this author has a lot of books out so when you finish one (and love it) you can find another great story to read next! Several of her books are books I can definitely re-read.

It started with a kiss.

When nine-year-old Eleanor Abbington first met her uncle’s new stepson, Nicolas Norton, the boy rudely stole a kiss from her that set the tone for their contentious and competitive relationship.

When Nick unexpectedly arrives on their doorstep after a two year absence, Eleanor is in no mood for their normal banter. Seeming to know exactly what she needs, Nick challenges her to pick up the foil once more. During their pre-dawn matches, he shows her just how strong she can be . . . and exactly how much he’s changed since leaving. But when her old adversary becomes her only ally, she may very well find herself . . . Ruined by a Rake.

I'm giving away 8 ebooks for this hop!
