It's Official--We're Authors!

What am I reading now?  NEWBIE (Jo Noelle)

Annnd . . . what do I think so far?  When we had teachers that read this before it was published, they often told us it seemed like the book was telling their story.

The housing market is crashing, and Sophie’s life is crashing with it. At twenty-four, her successful real estate career evaporates. She’s broke, can’t find a job, or pay her bills, leaving Sophie wondering how her successful lifestyle became so fragile.

At the urging of her roommate, Sophie accepts a job in her fallback career—teaching six-year-olds. She hopes it’s temporary. After all, how long can a tanking economy last anyway? The best part of the new job is Liam, another employee at Rio Grande Elementary. The worst part of the new job is, well, teaching.

Sophie has a surprise real estate closing from a contract she wrote months ago, leading her to a niche in the real estate market and to a new partner, Kevin. Sophie must choose between Liam or Kevin and between a lucrative career or recess duty.

What am I reading now?  Lexi's Pathetic Fictional Love Life (Jo Noelle)

Annnd . . . what do I think so far?  This is a great clean read, and sweet romance for teens and anyone else who likes to read YA.

Lexi Middleton has been socially invisible to her classmates, but starting her junior year, that’s going to change. First, she’s determined to hook a boyfriend, ensuring dates with flowers and possible kisses on the doorstep. Second, she wants to be a writer for the school paper, even though it freaks her out to think of everyone judging her by her punctuation and metaphors.

High school is difficult enough—keeping up her grades, dealing with increasing sibling rivalry, and trying to stay out of the way of her personal nemesis, Amberlee—but when Lexi catches the eye of her long-time crush, she also becomes the focus of mean-girl tactics.

Caught between who she was and who she wants to be, Lexi must decide how to confront a bully, and choose who to let into her heart.

What am I reading now?  Hotwire (Cindy M. Hogan)
Annnd . . . what do I think so far?   I just finished! The end had me holding my breath, then when I thought "this time her plan will work"--IT GOT WORSE!

Christy has completed training to become a spy and is assigned to a team who needs to retrieve a stolen car from an organized car theft ring. While investigating the assignment, Christy goes undercover at an engineering high school, becoming deeply involved with the thieves.

This story is a great companion novel to the Watched series by Cindy M. Hogan, though you don't need to have read the other series to fully enjoy this read. It’s a thriller that reminds me of a mix between Gone in 60 Seconds and the Gallagher Girls books.

This doesn't come out until October 2014, but go ahead and add it to your Goodreads To-Read list.

Deanna and I thought we were done. The covers are ready. We have the ISBN numbers. The stories have been written and rewritten X10+, and then edited for content and grammar and typos. We were just about to push the button for publishing and saw a typo. Yup--rewriting is a forever thing. But we are sooooooooo close. Hopefully you will see the announcement that they're out in a week or two.

The End...

What am I reading now?  The Healer (CJ Anaya)
Annnd . . . what do I think so far?  The main character is Hope. Angie is the best friend--I love Angie! What a great BFF! This paranormal, action, mythological, twisty story is full of heart and voice--you'll love it. My favorite line: "Wow," Angie said. "I feel like I'm watching an episode of Jerry Springer."

Here's the official Blurb

Seventeen-year-old Hope longs for a normal teenage life, but with a gift like hers, normal equals healing illnesses and injuries instantly. Keeping a secret like that isn’t easy, especially when two handsome, young men move into town and begin unearthing other secrets concerning Hope’s future and past, revealing to Hope that her gift may be the fulfillment of a prophecy gone wrong.

Ah-Hah Moment
Hanging out with my family tonight, I had one of those Ah-Hah moments, an analogy that completely changes your perspective. Here it is...
June is perfect! All you need is more chocolate and crackers. Bring it on!

July gets a little hotter and busier--but still good.
August is the wake up call that all the late nights and sleeping-in mornings will soon be coming to and end. Live it up while you can.
Then school starts...
And summer fun is over.

Don't get me wrong--I love the fall, and I'm looking forward to another school year (!), but it's always sad to see the summer end.
