Not Your Average Fairy Tale

What am I reading now?
Not Your Average Fairy Tale (Chantele Sedgwick)

Annnd . . .what do I think so far?  This is a fun story, a light read just perfect for summer. And for my teacher friends, this would be a great book to shelve in your classroom too.

Ash Summerland has it all-good looks, popularity, and the best grades at The Academy of Magical Beings. Ready to complete his last assignment in order to graduate, Ash is confident he will get the apprenticeship he wants. but when he opens the letter from the Council, he is shocked to discover he has been assigned to apprentice Lady Shenelle, Keeper of Happy Endings- aka the head fairy godmother. Ash is forced to grant three wishes to a troubled human girl named Kendall, and ultimately give her a "happy ever after." But Kendall turns out to be more than he bargained for. Still grieving over her father's death, she doesn't want anything to do with Ash. And worst of all, she doesn't believe in happy endings.

“I hate living with a neat-freak.” The red of Carlie’s face intensifies with each word. She begins chucking the throw pillows at Larissa in the small apartment’s living room.
When Larissa flings the pillows back at her, one rebounds, knocking over a bottle of juice, splashing the contents over the edge.

Carlie skips quickly aside, pulling the tablecloth off as she falls to the floor. Mail, a bowl of cereal and textbooks scatter across the floor. “In all the time I've lived here, I never once called this place home.” From the middle of the mess, Carlie looks around. “Until now.”

Haha, I love it! This really captures living with a roommate. And I just love Carlie's character. ^_^
