I love a book if I can't put it down and can't stop thinking about it even after I've read it.

A book becomes one of my favorites when it takes me somewhere or affects me on some level. It could be that I relate to the characters, was excited by the plot, or the style of the writing.

I love a book that draws me into the story. Used to be a lot of books did that, but once I started critiqueing I find it hard to get out of critique mode and really enjoy unless the writing is excellent of the story incredible. Preferably both.

What makes a book a favorite....the characters. By far. I want characters who are quirky, dramatic, and endearing. They need to make a mark, even if their story doesn't.

I love a book that makes me think--even when I put it down between chapters and especially if I'm still thinking about it a week or two later, whether it's about the beautiful language, the issues, or if I'm wondering what the characters are doing next.

What makes it my favorite is a story that keeps me guessing. I like to be surprised with where the author takes the story.

I just finished reading IF I SHOULD DIE by Jennie Hansen. I loved the plot and could tell she worked from a thorough outline. Love that! Before that, I'd just finished IMPRINTS by Rachel Ann Nunes. Loved her mc. She was so real I felt like I could reach out and touch her. Loved how her personality bled into every aspect of her life.

The build up to the story I love all the twists and turns and the journeys made by the characters and experience they and you can gain from them. In saying that I love when a relationship is build up over time not instantly like some stories it just doesn't seem realistic when it's like that.

The characters hands down. If I'm invested in the characters in the book then it'll become one of my favourites. Even if the storyline is a little dull, I tend to overlook the flaws if I'm in love with the characters.

I enjoy reading books that are well-written both in narrative and in character development. I love to see depth in characters who are able to evolve and a story that is engaging. I enjoy books that are both a personal account through its characters' plot, but also a commentary on our world at large. Aside from that, a good book must be believable, enjoyable, and moving! It has to be a book that I will not only remember, resonate with, but am willing to read again. Thanks for the giveaway! :D

I just read Graceling and LOVED it! I loved so much bc the main character was flawed but grew; she was relatable. Another is the action!!!! So much action I loved it!! The way it was writen made the entire book seem like a movie in my head. The last thing is that the plot is really good. If any book has these elements in it Im def going to like it if not love it! In which, Graceling was all of these! :D

When I get lost in a book, and can't put it down, and have lost track of time, that's how I know I have a favorite. It has to have a story that captivates me. Is well written. And I always get attached to a character or two. If the book makes me feel a hundred different emotions, that's a good sign.

For a book to be my favorites it has to have rommance, but it must be subtle and more of a sideplot then the focus of the story. It really irks me when the heroine does nothing but ogle the male lead and talk about how hot he is. I know teenage girl do a certain amount of that, but that's not all we think about. I have yet to meet anybody who is stunned speechless by the looks of a guy she hates.
Sorry for the rant; it's just a huge pet peeve of mine.
