Freakin' Cute House

What am I reading now?  The Maze Runner (James Dashner)
Annnd. . . what do I think so far?  Notes to remember as I read: Amnesia. All boys--Lord of the Flies-ish. Fortress. Maze. Danger--bloodthirsty monsters. A girl. (Of course it only takes one girl to throw the boy's society into chaos.)

Freakin' Cute House

I should be able to work this into a story somehow. But how? Brainstorm!
Who is here?
What are they doing?
Why here? Why now?
Where is this?
When does it happen?
How will they do it?

Throw me all you've got for 5 Ws and an H.

I just recently finished "The Maze Runner" myself. I enjoyed it, and once I finish "The Forgotten Garden" I'm going to begin "The Scorch Trials". I hesitated to start the series because I didn't want to read on that wasn't all out, and then I was so disappointed with "Mockingjay" that I was really concerned about a dystopian series. But I loved Dan Wells' "I Am Not a Serial Killer" series so well I decided to give James's series a try. And we shouldn't have to wait too long for the final book.

Canda, I was going to leave you with my idea, but holy cow, when I started thinking about the possibilities, I want to write my own story about the house. And well, you know how funny we writers can be about our story ideas. But I totally love the picture. My husband grew up in a house just like that in Seattle. His parents bought it in poor condition, fixed it up. They had various boarders living with them all the time because the house was so big. This picture is just way cool...My brain is already plotting out the story!

OH MY WORD! This is an easy one because I LOVE haunted houses and this one definitely is. I would make it YA. Maybe a teen and her family move in because they inherited the house and their dad just lost his job so they have no where else to go. They decide to move in and remodel etc... It's on the outskirts of town and was about to be condemned and demolished. I would have a teen ghost living there or something like that. He falls for the teen girl in the family. Wow! What a great idea. I'd totally read that! Maybe I'll write it! LOL

Love this house! I think your who could be 5 middle aged women, trying to form a secret society of...crime busters, or something. They're here because one of them inherited this house from an estranged relative they haven't seen or heard from in decades. The house itself is located in some obscure small town in the East, present day, and they'll do it with cleaver stealth, wacky planning, and sheer, dumb luck.

How's that for a story?

I love how you wrote this post! You penned it in such a great voice and it's so much fun to read! Ohhh, I love that house - and it oozes with fantastic fodder for brainstorming. I'll let the image of the house and it's possibilities mosey around my brain for awhile and enjoy the ah-ha's.
Thanks, Canda!
